Ranil Wickremesinghe has been elected as the President of Sri Lanka. In the elections held on Wednesday in Sri Lanka’s Parliament, Acting President Wickremesinghe was chosen to become the country’s new leader.
Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Speaker of Parliament, declared Wickramasinghe the victory by a majority of 134 votes. A new election for president was held in the Parliament after Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s resignation from the position.
The problem seen by the new president of Sri Lanka is experiencing an economic crisis, which is to offer fresh solutions. People in this area have been protesting for some time, claiming they must deal with the fuel, medicine, and food crises. The country’s departing president, Gotabaya Rajapakse, was forced to leave because of their agitation.
