Government is committed to establish the right to language and culture as a fundamental right

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the government is committed to establishing the right to language and culture as a fundamental right.

Inaugurating the 12th Pragya Sabha of the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Prime Minister Deuba said that the constitution has ensured the right of every Nepali community living in Nepal to promote and protect their language, script, culture, civilization, and heritage and it would be fully implemented.

He said that art like music and drama was an invaluable creation of the nation in itself and it enhanced the pride of the nation and communicated creativity in public life.

He said that the government would always support the Natya Pragya-Pratishthan in every role it plays for the upliftment of the nation through drama, dance, and music.

Prime Minister Deuba said that artists and writers have made invaluable contributions to the establishment and promotion of democracy.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Jeevan Ram Shrestha said that he would do his best for the development and promotion of Nepal’s arts, literature, drama sector, and culture.

Similarly, KK Karmacharya, Vice-Chancellor of Nepal Lalitakata Pragya-Pratishthan, stressed on the need to work for the development of Nepali literature.
