Kathmandu, June 2
The Footwear Manufacturers Association of Nepal (FMAN) has welcomed the government
policy to make the country self-reliant in terms of footwear production.
Issuing a press release, the FMAN Chairperson Naniraj Ghimire hailed the government policy reflected in the budget for the fiscal year 2022/23 in discouraging import and promoting domestic production, marketing, and use.
“The campaigns, such as ‘Made in Nepal, Make in Nepal’, in collaboration with the private
sector for export promotion have been well-reflected in the budget”, he said, adding that the campaigns along with policy measures to make the footwear sector Self-reliant have given incentives to entrepreneurs of this sector.
Among others, subsidies to the export of domestic footwear production, special concession on the bank loan for footwear enterprises, and budget appropriation for basic training for
advancing employment opportunities are positively reflected in the annual budget, the press release stated.
