Nepalgunj is tense after the police stopped the person trying to keep the statue of the former king

Kathmandu, June 2

After individuals who came to put the statue of former King Birendra Shah at Birendra Chowk in Dhamboji, Nepalgunj, threw stones at the police, the situation has gotten violent.

They went to the police after being stopped by the government while attempting to put a
statue of Birendra Shah at Birendra Chowk on Thursday morning. During the incident, about a dozen police officers were hurt. In such a situation, police fired four shots into the air. Following the fight, a considerable number of security personnel were deployed in the area.

The statue was taken from the villagers by police using force. During the Second People’s Movement, the full-length statue of King Birendra at Birendra Chowk was destroyed.
