Kathmandu, June 1
After it was found that Nepalgunj would be flooded during the rainy season, sewage and drains were cleansed.
Locals have been suffering as a result of waste collecting in sewers and drains, according to the Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan Municipality. Ward offices have begun to work in several wards.
Prakash DC, chief of the sub-metropolis’ environment and sanitation branch, stated that the sub-metropolis’ first goal is to clean big and medium canals. He also stated that sewers and canals would be cleaned surrounding Surkhet Highway from the bus park to Ganeshpur and Bageshwari temples. JCV and other methods were used to remove plastic objects, stones, bricks, weeds, garbage, and sludge from the drain.
For sewage and drain sanitation, a budget of Rs. 1 million has been set aside. DC estimated that the sanitation work would take roughly a month to complete, despite the fact that flooding would be reduced even if it rained during the rainy season. Mayor Prashant Bista issued orders a few days ago to address the issues of sewers and drains in the sub-metropolis.
Each day, the Nepalgunj market gathers 25 tons of waste. The rubbish has been controlled at Hiriminiya, which is located in the sub-metropolis’ Ward No. 23.
