Near the CPN-Maoist Center, Akhil (Revolutionary) has demanded that the rape case’s time restriction be removed. Following the public exposure of a beauty pageant organizer’s sexual aggression against a young woman, some have suggested that the time restriction on rape cases be extended.
On Monday, Akhil Krantikari leaders went to Singha Durbar and handed over a memorandum to Legislation Minister Govinda Bandi, requesting that the law be amended and the time restriction be removed.
According to the Civil Code of 2020, the time restriction for submitting a rape allegation was just 35 days, according to the memorandum. ‘After the new constitution was enacted, a law was enacted to eliminate gender discrimination in various laws, which expanded the time restriction for submitting a rape allegation from 35 days to six months.
Similarly, the new Criminal Code of 2075 BS has set the sentence at one year. The following events demonstrate that the legislation is being modified as needed.
We demand that the relevant legislation be revised to remove the time restriction
immediately since the victim has been robbed of justice as a result of the short time limit for crimes against defenseless, horrible women such as rape.
Akhil Krantikari has also demanded that the victims’ security be properly managed, taking into account the burden and impact that such acts have on the victims and their families.
