Sri Lanka’s economic crisis, which began a few days ago, has deepened. The minister and the prime minister have also resigned due to the economic crisis.
On Monday, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa announced his resignation. President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has accepted his resignation. According to the Sri Lankan president’s office, his resignation was accepted at midnight on Monday.
As anti-government rallies turn violent, the Sri Lankan government has ordered a national
curfew. The curfew imposed from Monday night to Tuesday has been extended till Wednesday, according to the Sri Lankan government.
Protesters gathered at several locations across the city on Monday morning. Many of them are believed to have protested the resignation of Prime Minister Rajapaksa.
