Kathmandu, May 10
Shubhawati Kurmi, the Maharajgunj municipality’s deputy mayoral candidate, has passed away.
According to family sources, Kurmi died of cardiac arrest on Monday night.
Earlier, Kurmi had been the deputy mayor of this municipality.
Chief returning officer Tejendra Sapkota said that the Nepali Congress (NC) can nominate
another candidate for the post of deputy mayor with the passing of Kurmi.
Surendra Raj Acharya, the General Secretary of the NC Lumbini Pradesh, said that preparations are underway to field a new candidate so that the local elections may be held on time.
