From tonight, the international border will be closed for 72 hours

From Tuesday night, all international border checks will be closed for 72 hours.

For the security of local elections, the administration has decided to seal the border from
midnight till polling day.

A period of silence is observed for 72 hours prior to election day. During the silence time,
international border checks are closed, and campaigning is prohibited.

According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, border district administration offices have been
instructed to close border checks as of midnight tonight. The Ministry of Home Affairs has
directed that the District Administration Office publish a notification of border closure.

Nepal has 42 districts connecting China and India. The migration is difficult to stop because the border controls on the Indian side are open.

The district administration office allows entrance to the destination for persons arriving at the airport for foreign flights and those returning from abroad, in collaboration with security
authorities, using passports, visas, and plane tickets.
