Kathmandu, April 21
The main opposition CPN-UML is holding a secretariat meeting to finalize candidacies for six
metropolitan cities and 11 sub-metropolitan cities today.
According to UML Deputy General Secretary Bishnu Rimal, the meeting will focus on the
selection criteria of candidacies and the strategy to be adopted against the competing parties.
The secretariat meeting has been called by the UML one day after the ruling coalition reached a deal on the candidates for mayors and deputy mayors of metropolitan and sub-metropolitan cities.
The draft of the UML’s election manifesto has already been endorsed by the party’s secretariat meeting.
Similarly, on April 22, on the occasion of the party’s establishment day, UML is preparing to
unveil the commitment papers simultaneously from the center and the local level, according to a UML leader.
