Coalition registers candidature in Province 1

Candidates of the five-party alliance have registered their nominations for the election of
National Assembly members. Gopal Basnet (Jhapa) of the Nepali Congress, Jayanti Rai (Bhojpur) of the CPN-Unified Socialist Party and Hemraj Thulung Rai of the Janata Samajwadi Party have registered their nominations from the quota for the disabled / minorities.

The names of six candidates were decided in State 1 out of 7 states for the National Assembly election to be held on Magh 12.

Earlier, the CPN-UML had decided to field Guru Baral of Morang, Sumitra Bhandari of Jhapa in the women’s category and Sonam Galgen registered her candidacy for persons with disabilities or minorities.

In the upcoming election after the vacancies of three candidates from the CPN-UML became
vacant in Province 1, the five-party alliance is likely to be heavy for the UML.
