China keen to increase accessibility and capacity of Covid-19 vaccine to countries around Belt and Road

In June, Wang Yi, a member of the Chinese State Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs, convened a high-level meeting on Asia-Pacific regional international cooperation on the Belt and Road. On the occasion, China and 28 other countries proposed to strengthen cooperation on vaccine assistance, export and joint production by establishing a “Belt and Road” Vaccine Cooperation Partnership.

China is actively implementing the proposal and has agreed to cooperate with these countries on 77 crore 50 lakh doses of vaccine and has given 35 crore doses. The Chinese business has started joint production with four countries and is discussing joint production with other countries.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said this while answering the question.

China, in a joint effort with the countries around the Belt and Road, is pushing for equitable distribution of vaccines, as well as increasing the accessibility and affordability of vaccines in the countries around the Belt and Road and in developing countries.
