Oli asks govt to be serious in budget implementation

Kathmandu, June 8:

CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said the government should be serious for the effective implementation of the coming fiscal year’s budget.

Inaugurating the UML-affiliated industrialists’ second district convention of the special district committee here Saturday, Oli stated that his party was holding talks with the government for some corrections in the budget for its effective implementation.

The former Prime Minister argued that the import of raw materials should be accessible to encourage domestic entrepreneurs and the tax rate too should be low for them. “The government failed to pay its attention to that end. I have raised the concern,” the UML Chairman added.

On the occasion, Oli stressed that we should focus on our own capital formation and technology development. Capital and technology should be imported if ours was insufficient, but mainly we should emphasize creating our capital and (technology) development,” he said.

Oli was of the view that the country could not benefit much despite the inflow of foreign direct investment and added that the investment should be utilized to create employment opportunities.

Saying that the use of technology determines the future of industrialization, the former PM said the country’s status won’t change until agriculture was modernized and industrialized.
