Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has instructed to act against those who keep Mukta
Kamaiya, kamalari, Haruwa, Charuwa, and Haliya workers. In a program held on Monday in Baluwatar on the occasion, of the 22nd anniversary of the Kamaiya Mukti Declaration, Prime Minister Deuba said that no one can hire a Kamaiya, a Haruwa-Charuwa, or a slave laborer, and he has instructed to take action if anyone does.
Similarly, he also directed to strictly enforce the Act on Prohibition of Kamaiya Labour. He said that if there is any remnant of the Haruwa-Charuwa or Kamaiya left, he will be punished. Prime Minister Deuba will introduce a special targeted program to ensure socio-economic advancement and dignified life for Harwa-Charuwa, he said.
The Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation has said that so far, 27,021 Mukta Kamaiya families have been provided with land and houses.
