The Parliamentary Special Investigation Committee has observed that the then Finance Minister Janardan Sharma had manipulated the tax rate by introducing unauthorized persons during the preparation of the budget for the coming fiscal year.
Bimala BK, a committee member, said that the members of the committee visited the ministry and performed on-site observations. He stated, “Today, all of the committee members came to the Ministry to observe the situation, and we also gathered information from the Ministry of Finance’s relevant staff members.”
He stated that during the inspection, he also learned where and to which offices the CCTVs are attached, as well as how the CCTVs are organized and managed.
He said that the committee had also requested from the committee the documents specified in the working procedure. To change the tax rate in the budget, a committee of 11 people had been established.
