For the position of Chairman of the Film Development Board, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology is taking applications. The board’s leadership is presently vacant following the tenure of Dayaram Dahal’s expiry.
The qualifications for a candidate to become chairperson are also specified in the 15-day notice issued by the Ministry’s Institutional Coordination Branch. It is stated that by the last day of application submission, one must have completed 30 years and not yet reached the age of 65.
It is stated that after receiving a bachelor’s degree in any subject, one must have worked for at least 10 years in the establishment, development, protection, promotion, and advertisement of the Nepali film industry, and that after receiving a proficiency certificate or equivalent, one must have worked in this field for at least 20 years.

The board, which was established on June 30, 2000, has recently been involved in a scandal regarding the political parties’ choice of a close associate.
The board now consists of three members: a chairman and a member secretary. Some
filmmakers have begun competing for the position of chairman a month after the government released the notification.
