Pension to farmers from this time: Agriculture Minister Yadav

Kathmandu, June 14

Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Mahindra Ray Yadav has stated that
attempts would be made to start a farmers’ pension program as soon as possible.

”Farmers have to keep some of their product for pension,” he remarked in response to questions from members of the House of Representatives. ”The government retains 10%.”

According to him, the government will develop procedures for farmers’ pensions. He stated that all farmers would have identity cards, and then pensions will be distributed based on their categorization. ”From now on, the subject of providing farmers with pensions will be addressed in the budget.” From now on, we want farmers to be entitled for pensions.

Finance Minister Janardhan Sharma introduced a proposal to offer farmers with pensions in the Fiscal Year 2079/80 budget. Every month, the government will deposit 10% of the sum
contributed by the farmers under this scheme. The fund’s seed cash has been set aside at $1 billion. In addition, according to the budget statement, exemptions will be granted in public service on the basis of a farmer identity card.
