The government has invited Biratnagar’s protesting industrialists for negotiations

Kathmandu, June 10

The government has called Sunsari-Morang Industrial Corridor industrialists to a meeting,
claiming that several elements in the Fiscal Year 2079/80 BS budget will harm indigenous
companies.

On Thursday, industrialists began a public protest, claiming that the budget was only meant to feed a few select industries while bringing down the majority of them.

The government’s budget allocation to pull down the steel, vegetable oil, and sanitary pad manufacturing industries was criticized by industrialists in particular.

According to Nabin Rijal, president of the Morang Trade Association, Finance Minister
Janardhan Sharma has asked for meetings with the agitated businessmen on Thursday evening, and negotiations are being planned at the Finance Ministry for Friday.

”The finance minister has requested a meeting,” Rijal explained.

According to the organization, a group of entrepreneurs has traveled to Kathmandu to meet
with government officials.

The provision made in the government’s budget, according to industrialists, will result in the closure of steel factories based on sanitary pads, vegetable oil, and MS wire within a month.
