Electric stoves would be distributed to students living in rented rooms in Valley

Kathmandu, June 8

The government is preparing to distribute free electric stoves to students living in rented rooms around the Kathmandu Valley.

A government institution, the Center for Promotion of Alternative Energy, has requested
applications for the distribution of electric induction to students of Indigenous nationalities,
Dalits, and other marginalized communities.

Students from government and community educational institutions studying at the university level will be able to apply by June 25th, according to the Center.

The Center has said that the program is aimed at increasing domestic consumption of electricity and supporting the government’s objective of replacing cooking gas with electric stoves.
