Tension in Bancharedanda, police fired tear gas

Kathmandu, June 8

Tensions have risen in the Kathmandu Valley as locals in Bancharedanda, Nuwakot, prevent
garbage dumping on Wednesday.

Garbage collection began on Tuesday with the assistance of the police. However, DIG Uttamraj Subedi of the Valley Police Office in Ranipokhari told news channels that after locals obstructed him on Wednesday, the police shot a few rounds of tear gas.

After locals threw stones at them, he said police had to use tear gas to keep the situation under control.
