Kathmandu, June 2
Domestic planes will not be able to get in-flight weather forecasts, according to the Department of Water and Meteorology. The Nepal Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) would not be allowed to make in-flight predictions of domestic flights, according to a notice published by the Meteorological Department.
This is due to a shortage of technology and staff, according to the agency. Under the Air
Meteorological Service, the department’s Meteorological Department has been providing weather information and in-depth forecasts for foreign flights. However, the government stated in the report that it only provides weather observation information for domestic flights from Kathmandu Airport.
According to the department’s information, only weather information for domestic flights can be provided using the existing people and technology, and only daily regional weather conditions may be informed.
Following the accident of a Tara Air plane on May 29, the government has issued orders not to fly until the input has been approved. It is unclear, however, who will provide such information.
Flights to hilly and mountainous locations have been impacted as a result of the government’s instruction.
