Kathmandu, May 22
CPN-UML has won the mayoral seat in Shuklaphanta Municipality in the Kanchanpur district.
UML candidate Rana Bahadur Mahara has been elected as mayor with 6,773 votes. His nearest rival Chinta Mani Bhatta from the Nepali Congress received got 6,264 votes.
Similarly, Nepali Congress candidate Kalpana Joshi Panta has been elected the deputy mayor with 6,519 votes. Her nearest rival Madhav Panta from the CPN (Unified Socialist).
