Kathmandu, May 22

A power line in Chisapani, Baijanath Gaonpalika-1 of Banke, was destroyed by a tree falling due to heavy winds on Saturday night, interrupting electricity service in Karnali. On Saturday evening, a 33 kV transmission line was broken off when a tree fell owing to heavy winds, disrupting the electricity supply.

According to the Nepal Electricity Authority, Karnali Pradesh, repair work on the transmission line began on Sunday morning by clearing fallen trees. Power delivery to Karnali is disrupted as soon as heavy winds blow due to a delay in the installation of a 133 kV transmission line. Since Saturday night, electricity has been out in Surkhet, Salyan, Jajarkot, Kalikot, Jumla, and Dailekh.

The electricity transmission line connects Lumbini and Karnali provinces via Kohalpur. According to the service beneficiaries, the work was stopped owing to an electrical failure.
