Meeting between Prime Minister Deuba and US Deputy Secretary of State Zeya, to return home today

Kathmandu, May 22

Uzra Zeya, the US special envoy for Tibetan problems, met with Sher Bahadur Deuba, the Prime Minister of Nepal. On Sunday morning, Deputy Minister Zeya and a four-member team met with Prime Minister Deuba in Baluwatar.

The meeting was announced on Twitter by Prime Minister Deuba. On Twitter, Deuba stated,
”The United States is happy to meet with a delegation led by the Deputy Secretary of State for Civil Protection, Democracy, and Human Rights.”

On Sunday, she will meet with Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka, Home Minister Bal Krishna
Khand, and Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi.

Deputy Minister Zeya will return to the United States today after touring India and Nepal since May 17. After three days in India, she landed in Nepal on Friday. Zeya landed in India at a Himalayan hospice to see the Dalai Lama, the exiled Tibetan spiritual leader.

On Saturday afternoon, she talked with Tibetan refugees in Kathmandu.
