Kathmandu, May 19
CPN (UML) has registered its win for the posts of mayor and deputy mayor in Suryabinayak
Municipality of Bhaktapur.
Candidates for Nepali Congress and CPN (Unified Socialist) alliance have been defeated by UML.
Basudev Thapa has been elected as the mayor and Sarita Bhattarai as the deputy mayor. Thapa has been elected with 14 thousand 758 votes. His nearest rival Nishan Dhungel of the Nepali Congress received 13,223 votes.
Similarly, UML candidate Sarita Bhattarai has been also elected as the deputy mayor with
14,490 votes. Her nearest rival Shyam Sundar Basnet of the CPN (Unified Socialist) got 6,661 votes.
