Independent candidate from Dalit community elected as ward chairperson in Jumla

Kathmandu, May 15

The Dalit community’s panel of independent candidates won Kankasundari-8 in Jumla. The
ward chairmanship was also won by three independent candidates, including Dhan Bahadur
Kami.

Kami had run as an independent candidate in the ward for the Dalit community. Dhan Bahadur received 288 votes to win. His opponent, Bahadur Shahi of the Nepali Congress, received 220 votes.

Gol Damai and Karnajit Sarki, members of the ward, have won. Chanakhi Kulal, an independent candidate, was elected as the Dalit woman member. The Nepali Congress’ Ramudevi Kafle was chosen as the female member.
