Congress’s lead in Nepalgunj

Kathmandu, May 15

With 2,140 votes, Prashant Bista of the Nepali Congress gained the Nepalgunj sub-metropolitan constituency of Banke. Nanda lal Baishya of the RPP received 1,033 votes, while Pashupati Dayal Mishra of the CPN-UML received 968 votes.

Jasapa’s Kamaruddin Rai received 1,442 votes, RPP’s Bindu Chartimagar received 1,084 votes, and CPN-Shanti Devi UML’s Dhakal received 884 votes. Wards 22 and 23 have concluded their vote counting. The counting of 1, 2, 20, and 21 votes is now underway. In Nepalgunj, 61,205 votes were cast out of 81,794 votes voted in the local election on May 13.

After complaints of delays in counting votes, District Election Officer Rama Aryal announced
that counting had started in four locations.
