Power supply to industries will be eased soon: Energy Minister Bhusal

Kathmandu, May 3, 2022

Pampha Bhusal, the Minister of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, has stated that the issue of industrial power supply will be resolved soon.

On Sunday, Minister Bhusal met with representatives from the Electricity Authority and the
Federation of Nepali Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).

Minister Bhusal stated at the time that the power failure was just temporary and that the
supply will be restored by Tuesday.

”The electrical supply problem isn’t our problem; it’s a global issue.” The administration of Nepal is committed to reform, and a solution will be found soon,” she added.

Minister Bhusal encouraged not to politicize the matter for a few days, explaining that the
problem was experienced in the past during the dry season when huge reservoir projects were not built for energy security.

Devendra Karki, the Ministry’s Secretary, said there was no need to fear and that the energy system’s current crisis will be resolved in a few days. ”This is a temporary issue; the state will take care of it,” he stated.

Kulman Ghising, NEA Executive Director, said the current power supply difficulties were to be anticipated and advised industries not to worry. ”The problem will be solved in a matter of days. Don’t be concerned; the situation will be addressed shortly ”he stated.

FNCCI President Shekhar Golchha spoke about the power supply issues throughout the session.

FNCCI Senior Vice President Chandra Dhakal highlighted the importance of cooperation
between the government and the business sector to improve electricity supply.
