Kathmandu, April 29
People no longer have to wait in long lines or search for a designated bank to pay fines for
violating traffic rules. The Kathmandu Metropolitan Traffic Police Office has gone digital and is now using QR codes to collect fines from violators.
The service called ‘QR Scan Pay Fine and Withheld Document’ came into effect from Thursday to facilitate the violators to pay the fine without having to go through procedural hassles.
SSP Umeshraj Joshi and Kumari Bank Limited’s digital chief Anil Tamrakar jointly inaugurated the service, which was launched in collaboration with the bank.
SSP Joshi said that the new technology was being adopted in the traffic management system of Nepal that is believed to further facilitate road users.
Similarly, Kumari Bank’s digital chief Joshi pledged to continue collaborating with the traffic
police in the coming days to provide better and faster services.
