Kathmandu, April 29
Preparations have already begun for the stock market to open on Friday as well. From Sunday through Thursday, the stock market remains open. On Friday and Saturday, the stock market is closed.
With effect from May 15, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NSE) will open on Friday after the
government agreed to grant two days off a week on Saturday and Sunday.
No formal decision, however, has been made. According to Nepse spokesperson Murahari
Parajuli, the market will be closed on Saturday and Sunday due to a government decision and will reopen on Friday.
In Nepse, the subject of extending the share trading hours was also considered. The stock
market is now open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., or 4 hours every day.
Despite some investors’ demands that the time period be extended, it will not be enacted right now. According to Parajuli, the regulations should be made to meet this. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Nepse will make the decision on whether or not to open the company on Friday.
