Five persons have been sentenced to prison for defrauding the Kapilvastu Savings and Loan
Cooperative in Taulihawa of Rs 120 million. On February 24, three of the accused were
sentenced to five years in jail and two others to three years in prison.
According to Laxman Panthi, a court bench officer, the workers Rajesh Kumar Kandu, executive director Nilaf Chanddev Pandey, and manager Abhinash Dev Pandey were each sentenced to five years in jail by a panel of the court judge Tejendra Prasad Sharma Sapkota.
Shrawan Kumar Gupta and Sundar Keshav Gupta, two savings collectors, were each sentenced to three years in jail. According to Section 124 (1) E of the Cooperatives Act, 2074 BS, they have been condemned to jail. On February 23, a Justice Sapkota panel found five people guilty.
On December 28, 2019, a case of organized crime was filed in court against 53 persons,
including the cooperative organization and its workers. Five people were found guilty in a two-year-old case of misappropriation of Rs 120 million from the Kapilvastu Savings and Loan Cooperative in Taulihawa.
Three employees and two savings collectors were found guilty by the court. 45 persons were released in the case, according to court judge Suman Pandey. On December 28, 2019, a case of organized crime was brought to court against 53 persons, including the cooperative organization and its workers.
45 of them have been cleared. Shatrughan Sharan Chaudhary, the court’s tahasildar, Kapilvastu Municipal Cooperative Officer, and the savers’ coordinator, was appointed to manage the cooperatives within 15 days. Within a week, the committee and the Accounts Committee were given instructions to call a special general meeting. The court gave the committee 15 distinct duties to complete.
