Bitcoin is accepted as legal tender in the Central African Republic.
According to Reuters, President signed a measure making Bitcoin legal tender on Wednesday.
The bill was unanimously passed by the Central African Republic’s parliament last week.
A representative for the president’s office said, ”The president has supported the measure, stating it will improve the condition for citizens of the Central African Republic.” With a population of approximately 4.8 million people, the Central African Republic contains several gold and diamond mines. However, it is one of the world’s poorest and least developed countries.
