Two brothers from the same family have registered nominations in Nepalgunj Sub-metropolitan Municipality and Kohalpur Municipality.
Brothers have registered their candidature from different parties in Nepalgunj Sub-metropolis-1. Binod Rijal from Nepali Congress and Pramod Rijal from CPN-UML have nominated candidates for the post of ward chairperson.
Binod, who was nominated by the Nepali Congress, started student politics in 2046 BS. He is currently the secretary of Tarun Dal, Banke.
Binod’s rival, his own brother Pramod, was the previous term’s ward chairman. He was also the spokesperson for the sub-metropolis. Before becoming the ward chairman, Pramod was a lawyer.
In the same way, two brothers will compete in the Kohalpur Municipality. In Ward No. 3 of the Kohalpur municipality, there will be competition between brother Madhav Rijal and brother Tarkeshwar Rijal.
Madhav from UML and Tarkeshwar from CPN (Maoist Center) have registered their candidacies for the post of ward chairman.
There are 2,329 candidates for 421 posts in the eight local units of the district.
