11 killed in chariot ride in India

Kathmandu, April 27

During a rath yatra in Tamil Nadu, India, eleven persons were killed by an electric shock.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also declared that the families of those who died in the
event will receive Rs 200,000 in compensation. Modi has also stated that the injured will
receive Rs 50,000 from the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.

MK Stalin, the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, had already offered a payment of Rs 5 lakh to the deceased’s family.

On Wednesday morning, a high voltage wire struck a rath yatra at a temple in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, killing 11 people and injuring 15.

The event is being investigated by the police.
