Ban on import of 10 types of goods including mobiles, motorcycles

Kathmandu, April 27

The government of Nepal has banned the import of ten different categories of commodities.

The import of luxury consumer items has been prohibited in Nepal, according to information published in the Nepal Gazette by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Supplies.

The following items are banned from being imported until mid-June:

1. Kurkure, Kurmure, Lays, and similar products
2. All kinds of prepared wine
3. Cigarettes and tobacco products (raw materials are exempt)
4. Diamonds (exemption for import of industrial raw materials)
5. Mobile set
6. Color television (over 32 inches)
7. Jeeps, cars, and vans (available for ambulance and hearse)
8. Motorcycles with a capacity of more than 250 cc
9. All kinds of toys
10. Playing cards

The ban would not apply, according to the government. Similarly, people who completed the banking process before April 26th will be exempt from the prohibition.
