Kathmandu, April 26

Giorgio Chiellini, an Italian defender, has declared his retirement from international football
after next June’s match at Wembley against Argentina.

Chiellini, 37, has appeared in 116 games for the Italian national team. This time, however, Italy, along with Qatar, was not chosen for the Qatar World Cup.

Chiellini has announced his plan to retire from Wembley, claiming that it was there that he had earned his greatest achievements in his career.

Chiellini told DAZN after the Serie A match against Sassuolo, ”I bid farewell to the national team at Wembley.” ”I won the Euro and had a great professional experience there (at Wembley).”

Last year, Italy defeated England in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley under Chile’s command.

Chiellini, who started for Italy in 2004, is tied for fifth with Andre Pirlo in terms of matches for the national team. Chile has played more games than just Daniel de Rossi, Paulo Maldini, Fabio Cannavaro, and Gianluigi Buffon.
