The Acting Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Nepal, Naif Alotavi, paid a courtesy call on Minister for Labor, Employment and Social Security Krishna Kumar Shrestha. They addressed a variety of matters of mutual interest and bilateral ties during their meeting at the Ministry.

Minister Shrestha asked the Ambassador to Saudi Arabia to take the lead in resolving the many issues that Nepalis experience in Saudi Arabia, which has lately emerged as a key labor destination for Nepali employees.

Minister Shrestha stated that the Nepal-Saudi Arabia labor deal should be finished shortly. Due to the lack of a labor agreement, he stated that the responsibilities of employers and human resource suppliers could not be specified.

Ambassador Alotavi stated that the well-being of Nepali employees was important to him.

Minister Shrestha further requested that the Saudi Arabian government assist the
establishment of a Saudi-targeted skills training center in Nepal. According to Minister
Shrestha, a skill-testing program might be established to develop a skilled workforce, as the majority of employees now heading to Saudi Arabia are untrained.

The majority of Nepali laborers who migrate to Saudi Arabia for work are unskilled. Saudi
Arabia is a significant labor destination for Nepali laborers, with roughly four lakh people. Nepal and Saudi Arabia established diplomatic ties on March 15, 1977.
