The Supreme Court has issued an interim order not to implement the arrangement that
prevents contractors from contesting the local level election.
A single bench of Justice Nahakul Subedi on Monday issued an interim order in the name of the Election Commission to not implement the provision to bar contractors to contest the local election.
“Do not prevent individuals involved in contract business from fielding their candidacy in the election,” said the order.
With this, the apex court has paved the way for contractors to field their candidacies and
contest in the upcoming May 13 local election.
