Kathmandu, April 20
Preparations are underway to distribute Melamchi water to the Kathmandu Valley residents
from April 24.
Under the direction of the Minister for Water Supply Umakanta Chaudhary, the project has
started water distribution preparations.
Minister Chaudhary had instructed that all stakeholders, including the Melamchi project,
complete preparatory work, which included water treatment.
He also urged that water from the Kathmandu Valley’s ten water ponds be distributed
proportionally.
The water that was poured into the tunnel at the rate of 260 liters per second from the source had reached Sundarijal on Monday night.
Earlier, the water that reached the capital was blocked after the structures in the source area collapsed due to the floods in the Melamchi river on June 15 last year.
