Guragain receives the Basundharashree award, while Rawal receives the Manashree honor

Kathmandu, April 20

The Basundharashri Award will be given to veteran writer Thakur Prasad Guragain (Myanma) for the year 2079 BS, while the Manashri Award will be given to artist Than Bahadur Rawal (Myanma) for the year 2079 BS.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Dubasu Chhetri, Vice-Chancellor of Basundhara-Man Pragya Pratishthan, on Tuesday. Guragain will get the Basundharashree award for his outstanding efforts. The cash reward is Rs. 75,000.

Similarly, Rawal will get the Manashri Award for his contributions to the growth and spread of Nepali literature via the creation and performance of modern Nepali songs, plays, films, and humor. The cash reward is Rs. 50,000.

Rawal, a veteran artist who was born in March 1948 in Mogok, Myanma, has written works
such as ‘Suna Mayalu,’ ‘Dukhiko Daijo,’ and ‘Jamkabhet,’ as well as directing and campaigning for dozens of Nepali films and plays.
