Kathmandu, April 19
Melamchi water distribution is set to begin on April 24 in Kathmandu. On April 11, 2021, the tunnel was officially opened by filling with water from Melamchi.
Minister for Drinking Water and Sanitation Umakanta Chaudhary said from April 24 that
Melamchi water will be available at taps throughout the Kathmandu Valley. Minister Chaudhary has also directed the appropriate organizations to participate in the distribution preparations.
Minister Chaudhary stated that the desire of Kathmandu Valley residents to drink Melamchi
water would be fulfilled starting next Sunday at a special celebration conducted at the office premises of the Kathmandu Valley Drinking Water Management Board on the occasion of its 17th anniversary on Monday.
The Board has been functioning commercially using underground water resources and running tanker services inside the Kathmandu Valley in a systematic manner, in addition to providing drinking water and sewage services.
