How Much Money Must a Candidate Keep in a Local Election?

Kathmandu, April 19

The amount of the deposit that a candidate must keep for the local level member election in 2079 has been set by the Election Commission. The commission mandates that the local level chairperson, vice-chairperson, chief, or deputy chief post a Rs 1,500 deposit.

Similarly, the member must deposit Rs 500 and the ward chairperson must deposit Rs 1,000.

According to the commission, women, Dalits, minorities, and economically disadvantaged
persons have received a 50% reduction on bail.
