Janardhan Sharma Prabhakar, the finance minister, has stated that he has drawn attention to news published in a national daily. He also stated that the news article ”Finance Minister is engaged in releasing Rs 400 million from the US” is false, but that he is dedicated to implementing the foreign investment promotion policy.

The Asset Laundering Investigation Department submitted a letter to the Central Bank of
Nepal on January 31, 2022, stating that bank accounts should not be blocked as part of an
investigation into Prithvi Shah’s search for a source of 1.2 million dollars from the United States.

On January 25, 2022, the department sent a letter to Rastra Bank and other banks, instructing them to cancel Shah’s bank accounts. Shah, on the other hand, lodged a petition to Finance Minister Sharma on March 25 when the bank accounts were not approved, according to the department’s communications.

Finance Minister Sharma said the bank account should be created without delay and that it
should be made easier to attract foreign investment based on Shah’s application and other documents from the Anti-Money Laundering Investigation Department.

”The Asset Laundering Investigation Department has filed a request to the Central Bank to enforce Shah’s bank account release direction,” Sharma stated. He also stated that it was his obligation to carry out the government’s foreign investment promotion program. He also asked everyone to help build an atmosphere that encourages greater foreign investment by making it easier to do so.

Shah, who was pulled into the investigation, asked for justice and expressed regret for his role in the encounter with the finance minister. ”For the past two years, I’ve been battling for justice. In this context, I’d like to thank the finance minister for his help in line with the law, and I apologize for the countless insults I’ve thrown at him,” Shah added.
