Kathmandu, April 4

Only 146 of the 162 school buildings damaged by the earthquake and aftershocks in 2072 BS have been rebuilt.

146 school buildings have been rebuilt, including 130 in the National Reconstruction Authority’s budget and 16 in the NGO’s budget.

Engineer Budhan Yadav of the Education Development and Coordination Unit said that work on 16 school buildings in the district’s 10 local levels is now underway.

”In 99 schools across the district, new toilets are being erected,” he stated.

According to the Education Development and Coordination Unit, the school building is
projected to be finished by mid-April this year. The district has begun construction of two-
room, three-room, and four-room concrete school buildings.

So far, 87 toilets have been built in the district, which includes two municipalities and eight
villages, with another 12 toilets in the works. According to the Reconstruction Authority’s budget, a drinking water plan has been incorporated in 51 schools in the district.

The district’s drinking water program has been finished in 46 schools, with five schools still awaiting completion. The Education Development and Coordination Unit has asked the school management committee to begin developing a drinking water program at the remaining schools as soon as possible.

The NEA has allocated Rs. 7 million and 40 thousand for a four-room building, Rs. 35 million 80 thousand for a three-room structure, Rs. 23 million 90 thousand for a two-room building, Rs. 1.5 million for toilet construction, and Rs. 740,000 for a drinking water program.

The Education Development and Coordination Unit has been looking after the office since its formation last July, despite the fact that the District Project Implementation Unit (Education) has been monitoring the development of a school building, bathrooms, and a drinking water system.
