China has had relations with Nepal since ancient times. Nepal-China relations are about two
thousand years old. Nepal should properly enhance its relations with China.
China is a powerful country today. A recent joint article by four international leaders states that China must now take the lead. The article goes on to say that China should mediate to end the war in Ukraine and play a leading role in the world order.
China has never interfered in Nepal’s political affairs. He never said what kind of party should be in the government, what kind of system of government should be. China has always maintained state-level relations with Nepal, regardless of the king’s leadership or any party.
Now the whole world is moving in favor of BRI. This government, however, stopped the BRI
from moving forward.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi was received by his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, who arrived in
Kathmandu via New Delhi, the capital of India. Narayan Khadka did not go to Tribhuvan Airport.
He not only insulted the secretary of his ministry but also conveyed the message that Nepal has moved away from China.
Foreign Minister Wang made the intention of the visit clear during his talks with the three
Maoist leaders. He did not want to be named the BRI during this visit. One of the reasons
behind this is MCC.
During the meeting with Foreign Minister Wang, Prime Minister Deuba did not mention the
name of BRI. It shows that the government has ignored the BRI. There are indications that
China’s relations with the current government are not so good.
