Dean Thompson has been named as the United States’ next Ambassador to Nepal. US President Joe Biden has selected Thompson as ambassador to Nepal, according to the White House.
Randy Berry, the current US Ambassador, will be replaced by Thompson.
He is now the United States’ Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs. He is in charge of managing US strategy and ties with the region’s governments.
Thompsom has worked in US diplomacy for more than 25 years.
He worked as the US Embassy’s Deputy Chief of Mission in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
He has worked in the US Embassy in Bucharest, Romania, the US Consul General in Kolkata, India, and the US Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka as the Head of the Department of Economic and Commercial Affairs.
