Two injured in explosion in Itahari

Kathmandu, March 29

Two people were injured when an improvised explosive device went off at Nawajagriti Tol of
Itahari Sub-metropolis-2 at around 10 PM on Monday.

Rabin Thapa, 22, and Sher Jung Gurung, 23, both of Itahari Sub-Metropolis-2 Nawajagriti Tol, were injured in the explosion, according to Khagendra Khadka, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Area Police Office, Itahari.

Khadka said the IED had exploded at Thapa’s house. Thapa, who was injured in the blast, has been admitted to Biratnagar Eye Hospital while Gurung is admitted to BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan.

Similarly, police said that a leaflet of Congruent Front of Nepal (CFN) was recovered from the explosion site. CFN cadres are suspected to be among those injured in the blast, according to police. Gurung had recently visited Thapa’s residence.
