The Election Commission (EC) has called on the national organizations to submit applications to observe the local elections scheduled to be held on May 13.
The EC has issued a 15-day public notice with effect from today for applications from national organizations and individuals who have experience, expertise, and efficiency in the field of election observation.
The organization wishing to observe the election should apply along with the organization’s
registration certificate, statute, and a copy of the audit report. A list of office bearers of the
working committee of the organization, proof of the experience of election observation, and
copy of the booklet and guide prepared by the organization needs to be submitted along with the application. However, the EC has the right to decide whether or not to allow any
organization to observe the polls.
The EC has stated that the election observation will help to promote coordination and
participation with the main stakeholders as well as contribute to enhancing the credibility of
the election process.
