The Secretary-General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), Jens Stoltenberg, has stated that Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was a ‘huge mistake.’
Stoltenberg, who arrived in Brussels on Thursday for a NATO meeting, called Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine a ‘huge mistake.’ Putin, he said, had miscalculated the might of the Ukrainian people. ”President Putin made an error by declaring war on a sovereign state,” Stoltenberg said.
Stoltenberg also urged member nations to raise defense spending, calling the situation ”the most severe security crisis that NATO has faced since Russia invaded Ukraine.” He also cautioned that if Russia used chemical weapons, the essence of the conflict would alter.
Yesterday in Brussels, NATO chiefs of state and government were gathered to discuss Ukraine.
The gathering was addressed by Ukraine’s President, Volodymyr Zelensky, according to foreign media.
