Kathmandu, March 13
The writ petition filed by KP Sharma Oli, Chairman of the CPN-UML, will now be heard at a final hearing.
On Sunday, a joint bench of Justice Ishwar Prasad Kathiwada and Dr. Kumar Chundal gave the order.
The CPN-UML had expelled 14 lawmakers, accusing them of acting against the party’s policy and direction, including Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Speaker of the lower house, Agni Prasad Sapkota, then refused to take action against the
expelled lawmakers, stating that they had already formed a new political party.
KP Sharma Oli, chairman of the party, had then filed a writ petition against Speaker Sapkota, the Election Commission, and 14 expelled lawmakers demanding action against those 14 lawmakers and scrap legitimacy of the CPN (Unified Socialist) among others.
The UML has been obstructing House processes and has stated that it would continue to do so until its demands are met.
